Subtitles not working on iOS iPad

Postby kakkalla » 13 Mar 2018 03:15

Hello all.

I am running VLC Version 3.0.2 (303) on an iPad running iOS 11.2.6. I also run a Plex server.

I can connect to my Plex Server via VLC and everything works well. However, I cannot get the subtitles to work. For each movie on my server, I follow the naming rules suggested by Plex.

For example, I have a folder Resident Evil (2002). In this folder is Resident Evil (2002).mp4 and Resident Evil (2002).srt. When I play the movie on my iPad, I don't get the speech icon for displaying the subtitles. I have tried this for many movies and cannot get one to display its subtitles.

Is this a bug? Should the subtitles be in another format? If so, what format.

Thanks in advance.

Do you connect to PLEX via UPnP or with our native PLEX support?

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.

I connect using the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) tab. Under this, I see my Plex Media Server.

Under 'Plex Media Server (via Bonjour), I can see my server's name, but when I click on it, I get the error that "Server Connection Failed. Please check your server address and credentials.

Should I be connecting some other way?

Thank you.
