Subtitles not shown on AppleTV

Postby ricardofeldman » 14 Feb 2018 22:03

I am using AppleTV fourth generation (not 4K). Since VLC upgraded to 3.0.0 I can search for subtitles when viewing a remote hosted movie, but then the play/pause button stop working. The subtitles are not shown.

If I select a movie that contains subtitles, it doesn't allow me to select it.

Before the upgrade, it works perfectly.

Thanks...

Which version of tvOS is installed on your Apple TV? does it happen to be the 11.3 beta?

Same issue here in the netherlands!
I have atv 4, tvos11.2.5 with vlc 3.0.1.
When i play a movie like harry potter, i ask for the subtitles, there are a lot of them!
But when i select a subtitle, it won’t work, i allready test some movies where it worked before, but now it won’t.

I hope for support,

Thankyou guys!

I have the same problem! Playing subtitle when we copy files to app doesn’t have any problem. But when playing video files with SRT subtitle with SMB or any network share the subtitle won’t be displayed. My tvOS also is 11.2.5

The exact same issue here, tvOS 11.2.6. Subtitles are found but when I select a subtitle, play/stop does not function and the subtitle does not show - no matter what.

I have ATV 4K, tvos11.2.6 with vlc 3.0.1. One recent issue: Subtitle is found and chosen. Whether it is for a TV show or a Movie, the chosen subtitle refuses to be applied to the program/movie. This has never been a problem for me before. Choosing another subtitle or various subs - nothing happens. A second, persistent issue: Locking in on subtitles is hit or miss. Searching may show nothing happening OR a spinning wheel that a) results in hundreds of non-related titles or b) no titles at all. Getting out of the subs menu and then going back in and selecting "download subtitles) may then result in "hits". Why is success so random...or inconsistent. The whole realm of subtitles needs to be more predictable and successful but whatever used to work in applying subs is currently broken for me, as for others here. Please look into this soon! Thanks!
