no direct update via player?

Postby Chefkoch » 14 Feb 2018 18:39

Hi,

this is likely a noob question.

my current VLC player version shows as 2.2.8

on the vlad site there is a version 3.0.0

now, when i go to
"help" in the vlc player menu it says
"you have the latest version"

when i click
"recheck version"
no change.

so, why can i not update the vlc player directly?

Automatic updates are always deferred to root out regressions.

well, tbh i have no idea what that means.

that being said, why is it when i manually click "check for updates" in the vlc player it still shows that i have the latest version. which however, is not the same as on your own website?

I´m having the same problem, it looks like VLC is receiving the wrong version from the server it uses to check updates.
