VLC 3.0.0 network stream no longer plays but does play in v2.2.8

Hi,

With VLC Player v2.2.8 x64 on Win 10, my network stream played without issue: http://xxxxx:8080

With VLC Player v3.0.0 x64 on Win 10, the same source generates an error: "Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://xxxxx:8080'.

I'm not sure how to make this work in v 3.0.0.

Any suggestions?

Which type of video stream is it? In VLC 2.2.8 / Tools / Media Information what is reported? Maybe a buggy codec...

Hi,

There are 2 streams:

Stream 0:
type: video
codec: windows media video 9 (WMV3)

Stream 1:
type: audio
codec: windows media audio 2 (WMA2)

Test with Nightly Build of VLC

Hi, I do have the similar issue when streaming with UDP content.

The same UDP stream can be played on the same PC with v2.2.8 but not the latest version v3.0.0

I tried the same stream by using Nightly Build of VLC v3.0.1, but the results are the same, any idea?

the UDP stream details of my case is:
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)

Type: Audio
Codec: H264 - MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a)

I have a similar problem. I am using OBS Studio to output a UDP multicast stream to my building, and viewing with VLC. I can view the stream just fine with VLC version 2.2.6, but the stream won't play (or it plays with audio only) in version 3.0.1. I don't get an error message, though.

The stream settings are as follows:
Container: mpegts
Video encoder: libx264 at 512kbps
Audio encoder: aac at 128kbps
Output resolution: 852x480

Any help about how to fix this or what to change would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a login/pass in your URL ? Do you open it as udp://239.255.13.3:7900 or with another URL or via a playlist ?

143276 is HLS... nothing to do with UDP. 143340 provides no useful infos to compare with.

Can you please provide a copy of the playlist file? Otherwise, I doubt that we can find anything out.
