can't move first media library column / field

Postby gazzawazza » 12 Feb 2018 03:18

hi all

Congratulations on the public release of vlc v3. I've installed eagerly!

I performed a clean install (as it's a major version release), having deleted all old preferences and cache (and uninstalled previous version).

Currently running the 64bit VLC on 64 bit win 7 home premium.

ISSUE: I can't seem to move the first field/column in the media library

I can add new columns and reorder them. I simply can move "title" currently.

Neither can i position other fields in front of "title".

thanks very much for this.

I read the ticket - such a shame it will not be fixed in VLC v3

I just rolled back to v2.2.8 (clean install) and first column moves fine. I've not had problems with other 2.2.x versions either in moving first column. I've added columns and moved initial column successfully. I've also moved other columns into first position.

Maybe I can configure in 2.2.8 and then retain settings in v3 upgrade. Just wanted a clean install though.

Gary

workround / fix is here:

https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 69#p468492

Note i last tested this in VLC 3.0.11 and it worked but in 3.0.12 i found that while i can't move the "track" column, you can place other fields / columns around it, so you can effectively make the library column structure / order, as you would like it. I can't remember if i had this same experience (of not being able to move the track column) in 3.0.11
