Hi!

I'm trying to install a new version downloaded from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/source/! But no matter which version I take, I always get errors while I run make!
I tried the version of 2005-11-15 2005-11-17 2005-12-19 2005-12-20

Has anybody successfully installed any version later than october of this year?

I need a version newer than this because I want to use the network streaming mmsh with more than 512kbit/s and this was fixed in october this year!

Thank you!

So are you using Sarge (stable), since 0.8.4 is available officially in Sid (unstable)?

Yes I'm using Sarge!

Is that the problem?

That would be bad, because I really need this feature! Any ideas?

Perhaps this could help: http://www.scs-computers.nl/sven/howto-vlcdebian.html
Otherwise post the errors you get during make or upgrade to Sid unless you have a specific reason to use Sarge. For desktop machines and non-critical servers, Sid is usually quite stable. Sometimes a few packages may be broken for a while, but they are fixed eventually and after that updates work like they normally do.
