Playback cutting out

Postby xxjohnxx » 18 Jan 2018 17:35

I sometimes have problems with youtube video playback from the command line.

VLC version 2.2.7
(Debian Jessie on ARM)

This is the command I type in my shell:

Code: Select all

vlc --no-video -v 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ea_UOPzuyZU --network-caching=10000

This is the output off above command as is (audio works):
[734c6058] mp4 stream warning: unknown box type gsst (incompletely loaded)
[734c6058] mp4 stream warning: unknown box type gstd (incompletely loaded)
[734c6128] mp4 demux warning: elst box found
[734c6128] mp4 demux warning: STTS table of 1 entries
[734c6128] mp4 demux warning: CTTS table of 185348 entries
[734c6128] mp4 demux warning: STTS table of 1 entries
[706e3e50] faad decoder warning: decoded zero sample
[00156e10] alsa audio output warning: device cannot be paused

And this is the last message before it stops playback completely:

[734c6128] mp4 demux warning: track[0x2] will be disabled (eof?)

In this particular video it seems to happen regularly, but sometimes it happens in another video, then i start the video back up and it plays fine untill the end.

Oh and no you don't need to uninstall VLC, you just need to upgrade using APT

I updated everything, source list:

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian buster main

Installed with this command:

Code: Select all

apt-get install -t testing vlc
VLC media player 3.0.0-rc5 Vetinari (revision 3.0.0-rc5-0-gf53236af09)
VLC version 3.0.0-rc5 Vetinari (3.0.0-rc5-0-gf53236af09)
Compiled by buildd on henze.debian.org (Jan 11 2018 18:41:02)
Compiler: gcc version 7.2.0 (Debian 7.2.0-18)
However, it now won't play anything at all. I returned back to stable (worked again), and now back to this build (yet again doesn't work).

This code:

Code: Select all

vlc --no-video [youtube URL]

gives this output:
[0095b660] vlcpulse audio output error: PulseAudio server connection failure: Connection refused
[00967350] dbus interface error: Failed to connect to the D-Bus session daemon: Unable to autolaunch a dbus-daemon without a $DISPLAY for X11
[00967350] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[008ec938] main libvlc error: interface "dbus, none" initialization failed
[00966ff0] main interface error: no suitable interface module
[008ec938] main libvlc error: interface "globalhotkeys, none" initialization failed
[008ec938] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
[00970148] skins2 interface error: cannot initialize OSFactory
[00970148] [cli] lua interface error: Error loading script /usr/share/vlc/lua/intf/cli.luac: /usr/share/vlc/lua/intf/cli.luac: incompatible precompiled chunk

Ask me if you need more verbose logging. :)
