Playlist Resume

Postby chrizk » 07 Dec 2017 12:01

Hi
I have searched the Forum, and found others asking for the feature, but the requests were in 2015, and I haven't seen any responses.
Perhaps it has already been implemented, and I haven't found a method. If that is the case, can someone tell me how to resume my playlist?
(first time on the Forum, and I didn't spot a section for asking questions, only troubleshooting, which this isn't)

If this has not been implemented (I am using the latest 2.2.8 Weatherwax), I would like to request a new feature.
The idea seems easy enough, but perhaps the actual implementation is more challenging.

I have a number of training videos, which I want to watch over time, and want to continue from the point I previously stopped.
I thought this would be an obvious use of a Playlist, so I created one, listing the videos in order.
When I reopened the playlist, I was disappointed to find that it started the first video at the beginning. Perhaps this makes sense for someone listening to music, but it does not in my scenario.
I have changed the settings so that the Playlist is listed rather than video starting, but this doesn't even show me a check/tick against the videos that I have watched.
The only other options appear to be Random Playback, which again, makes no sense in this scenario.
I have also set Preferences-Continue Playback to Always and/or Ask, but this relies on the actual video being selected first. As there are no check/ticks, it can be a challenge remembering which one to start.
NB I would prefer that the video is not auto-started at the beginning when the file is opened, and Ask is selected in the Preferences. It is irritating having to watch/listen to the video, and having to 'quickly' move the mouse to Continue before it times out. To my mind, it makes much more sense just to have a Continue Playback button displayed centrally in the playback window, preselected Yes (waiting for Enter/Return) with the option No selected by Arrow/Mouse/'tap' (which would start the video at the beginning).

So, can you integrate the Continue Playback 'Ask/Always' feature with Playlists (opposed to the individual videos within the playlist)?
If not, or in the interim, can you add check/ticks against the items played/completed within the playlist?

Many thanks

No response in over a month. Have I posted this in the wrong place, or is it just being ignored?
