Downloads for offline viewing disappearing at end of download

I have always downloaded videos from the web to the downloads area in VLC for iOS to watch when I’m offline. Now using version 2.8.4 When I try downloading you can see the file downloading just fine, right up until the end of the file when the file just disappears, every time. I can stream that same file and it works just fine but I can’t download for offline viewing at all. What can I do about this download problem, why do my downloads keep disappearing?

Fact of life or not, I'm unable to reproduce this issue.
I have tested this on an iPhone 6 - iOS 11.0.3 with VLC-iOS 2.8.4(284.1) and VLC-iOS 2.8.5(285.1).
If you could provide a sample that fails it would be great.

I have iOS version 11.0.1 using VLC iOS 2.8.4. Of course I’ll provide whatever I can, What exactly do you need from me? I’m not sure I understand what that is. I just tried it again and it’s still happening, weird thing is after the file disappears I hit download again and the file shows up for an instant then disappears again.

It’s a file from an app, Bitport utilities.I’ve heard it happens with other apps but nothing first hand. Maybe rabidfoxx knows more about that part, not sure. Is it possible that this was written in on purpose? Or would they mention that? It always worked in the past

I have the same issue.
Wifi download from twonky from a qnap nas downloads, but the file is never seen.
Vlc 284.1 and twonky 8.4.
When I looked in the files of vlc when connected to iTunes I could see the files there, but the files were *.vlc, not *.mkv as expected. Once I renamed them to *.mkv, the files were visible and playable.
So this is not a download or corruption issue, it is a file (re)naming issue.
Is this being looked at?

Once I told twonky to show the file name extensions.

Twonky might show file names but Bitport does not. Apparently it’s more about being judged for what kind of files you download. I don’t think it’s a bug. Funny how when I mention the app things get quiet.
