Any VLC 0.8.4 build for Fedora Core 2?

Hi HD Streamers,

I have been playing with the cool 0.8.4a on my G5 servers but I am unfortunately stuck with older FC2 clients in the lab. Due to some in-house developed modules I can't upgrade to FC4. Therefore I havent yet upgraded VLC there from 0.8.1. We all know how 0.8.1 does not play nice with 0.8.4 since newer features are simply not there.

My question therefore is, will VLC 0.8.4 ever be built for FC2??? I have been scouring livna.org, freshrpms, and freshmeat, but FC2 seems to have already fallen in some cyber black hole. I have tried building 0.8.4 into FC2 and got it to "configure...make...make install" but interface opens with the brush steel interface but no dialogs open...and get "skins2" not properly loading errors. I already compiled with --enable-wxwidgets and --enable-wxwindows.

Any advice?

do you have wxwidgets developement libraries installed ? (wx 2.6 unicode build would be the best)

I did build the GTK+ version of wxWidgets 2.6 ( http://www.wxwidgets.org ) before building 0.8.4. wxWidgets 2.6 is also available for X11. Is it necessary to have X11 and GTK+ built and installed prior to building VLC 0.8.4?

I did follow your building VLC for *Nix systems for the successful build.

You need wxWidgets compiled and installed before you start building VLC.

(the compile guide is kind of old so it might contain errors)
