[Help] Live RTMP accumulating delay

Postby ahmed96alaa » 04 Sep 2017 16:24

i'm using vlc in playing a live RTMP video and it's really amazing
i was trying to reduce the accumulating streaming delay ...so i tried setting caching to small values or even to 0 ms
but that reduces the instant delay in streaming ...not the overall accumulating delay

for example ...
if i started an RTSP streaming and set the cache to zero ..... now i have negligible delay in VLC
if the RTSP source stopped streaming for few milliseconds for some reason ... then VLC waits for it to start streaming again
now when the source resumes streaming again ... the VLC resumes but with a delay that equals that few milliseconds the source stopped streaming in

so please anyone kindly tell me how to fix that and make VLC skip that accumulating delay :(

yes .. it's the same thing i did before ... according to this solution i must increase the buffer size ... but i don't want to do this
it will make some delay depending on the cache (in ms) that you set

but i don't want to have any buffer size ...
what i want is to set the cache to 0 ms and if the stream stopped for few milliseconds then resumed again
it should just catch the last frame again and continue with no delay again ... just like when the stream started in the first time

thanks in advance

unfortunately there no link i can give to you
i'm using VLC to play a RTMP stream from wowza streaming server

i'm an android developer .. and i'm working on an application which streams what you draw on your android device screen
to wowza streaming server in the LAN server through RTSP

then wowza transform it to RTMP

my problem is ... in some cases like ..
- when the android device is doing too much work on the CPU so some frames are delayed
- when there are some network or wifi problems so some frames are sent delayed
- when the user stops the stream then re-stream it immediately

all these cases leads to my problems ... as when the RTSP resumes it's stream after that distortion ... the VLC don't sync with the realtime streaming again .. it plays with some delay ... so i have to stop the vlc playing then starting to play it over again so it can catch the last frames again and play with no delay
thanks again for you help and your caring
