[XboxOne] UPNP "missing"

Postby IronGibbet » 14 Aug 2017 01:01

Hi,

I just wanted to watch a flick via VLC (version is 2.5.3.6) on Xbox. Now it only shows my PC available with smb but not upnp, like it used to.
The normal Xbox mediaplayer shows the upnp server and play the files, without subtitles.

A fix, the option to downgrade, or a workaround would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi IronGibbet,

I can't seem to reproduce your problem, upnp server gets picked up alright here.

What kind of upnp server are you using?

Hi mfkl,

To answer your questions, including those from code.videolan.org (sorry, don't want to create another account or use google account).
What's the OS did you install Serviio on?
I'm using serviio (pro) version 1.9 on a Win 7 Pro x64.
I already tried, several reboots of PC and Xbox and reinstalling both VLC and serviio, but no success.
If it is of importance I'm using WiFi between Xbox and router, PC and router are connected by RJ45 copper.
Does the VLC classic desktop app picks it up?
I could only try the same machine as serviio is installed on.
It shows the Server immediately, but till I could access the files it took somthing between 15 to 20 minutes.

I know it's a different OS, but the Android version works well and as quick as the WinRT verion used to.

If you do know a way to get the VLC logs from the console, I'd be happy to provide them.

Thanks in advance and best regards.

Not sure if it is, but for what it's worth I have the opposite setup (laptop connected using WiFi, Xbox with RJ45). Maybe give that a try?

Sure, let's see it.
You will find 2 log files ("BackendLog.txt", "FrontendLog.txt") at this location: C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Local\Packages\VideoLAN.VLCxxxxx\LocalState

Hi mfkl,

thanks again for your help!

I could get my hands on a cable that is long enough for wired connection.
Wired connection works, but it might be because it has a different IP than the WiFi.

Thanks again for your help and time.

Greetings and best regards.
