Cannot update to 2.2.6

Hi. The message says to update VLC, but the process stops at 37.2 Mb, short of the expected 37.3, and is stuck. Should I delete and reinstall VLC, if yes, how? My Macbook runs Sierra 10.12.5. Thanks.
