VLC for XBOX One - NAS connection after update

Postby VillyLane » 21 Jul 2017 11:28

Hey there,

So after the last VLC update on XBOX One VLC won't connect to my NAS, it shows it but when i want to enter it it gives me an error message.
I tried reinstalling and it didn't change anything. I tried reaching my nas from another media player and it works so the problem has to be with the app.

Do any of you guys have the same problem? Or does somebody know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Same for my DVR upnp - get error message that input can't be opened. VLC is unable to open the MRL. Says to check the log but don't know where that is on the Xbox One? Previous version can access fine so something has changed in the latest version. I was hopeful that the sound issue after fast forwarding was fixed in the update but can't test!

Hi guys,

Exact same problem here... Was working fine (and by that I mean really good...!), and all of the sudden, it stopped.

Looks like there's no other app able to stream videos (especially MKV) directly from my PC (I hate Plex, and I think Plex hates me too...), I'm really looking forward to a happy ending to my problem...

Hope I hear from you guys soon !

Hi guys,

We are aware of the regression and working to fix it. We'll push an update with a fix ASAP.

Thank goodness! Great to hear and thank you for updating us. I was going out of my mind thinking a new firewall rule or some other UPNP issue with the latest update to windows had stuffed it. Only decent media player that can play 720p or 1080p without the audio getting out of sync on my local area network from the pc to the Xbox. I had got so used to the quality that when i was forced to use the xbox one media player or the tv and movie media server app i realized how much I had taken it for granted!

It should be fixed in 1.5.3.
