Updated mp4 metadata; file does not play anymore

Postby goodflood » 10 Jun 2017 21:28

Hello,
I updated an mp4 file information using CTRL + I (Media information) "Genre" field with "1", so I could easily find it from a bunch of files.
The mp4 file does not play anymore. On reversing what I did before, the file still does not play.
Is the file doomed?
Thanks!

Update1: Used easytag to remove extra data when Media information was edited... file still does not play.

Using ffmpeg, I tried re-encode? the file... and I get this output:

Please upload a short sample of a problematic file to either Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.

Anyway, to be safe you should never work on an original file but always on a copy.

Hello Lotesdelere!

I created a [dummy] video (21 secs; ~31MB).
Then I re-created the problem with a copy. While playing the mp4 file, I pressed CTRL + I, click in the "Genre" Field and type "1", then clicked "Save Metadata." Now, the file does not play.
The file is uploaded here: http://www52.zippyshare.com/v/d1OIlvw2/file.html

Thank you for looking into this.
