VLC Won't Play My DVD

I apologize in advance if I posted to the wrong forum. I created a movie using iMovie on a brand new Mac. I then created a DVD using an old version of iDVD on an older Mac. However, the DVD won't play using VLC media player on a Mac or Windows based machine. It plays fine using the regular DVD Player on a Mac and CyberLink Power Media Player on a Windows machine. What is going on? Any help is appreciated!
