Headset Mode (not working)

Hi,

I know Headset Mode is experimental and not supported, but I was just curious if there's still development on this or if it's basically been dropped.

I had used Headset Mode years ago, successfully. Now, however, I can't get it to work. I was thinking it might be the fact that my iPhone 7 has no headset jack (I'm using the adapter that comes with the iPhone), but I tried it with my iPad, which does still have a headset jack, and it doesn't work there either.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if it just doesn't work anymore, and has been dropped (in which case I'll quit wasting my time trying to figure it out).

My Mac (to which my VLC App is connecting): OS X 10.11.6. I've also tried with my MacBook which is the latest version of OS X, 10.12.4, neither seem to work.

Anyway, any advice or thoughts are appreciated.

What is Headset Mode? Can you give details?
