I'm aware that 360 video in VLC 3 is new and I guess still in beta, so I'm hoping this is just a temporary glitches or I'm doing something wrong?
With the GoPro VR Player 2.2 on my MacBook Pro, the videos are fun to use. It's easy to pan around quickly with the arrow keys and the video stays nice and smooth while I’m panning around. By default GoPro VR Player 2.2 uses the arrows keys to move up, down, left, right as one would expect. GoPro VR Player 2.2 is also very smooth when I pan around with my trackpad whereas VLC 3 is jerky and slow.
However, with VLC 3, if I use the up and down arrow keys to look up and down it's very jerky and slow. Also, I tried to set keyboard shortcut hotkeys in VLC so I could pan left and right (roll the viewpoint clockwise & anti-clockwise) with various shortcut keys and nothing seems to work. I hit the hotkeys and nothing happens.
The only keyboard shortcut hotkeys that works fairly well is zooming using the function key + up or down arrows.
Overall, GoPro VR Player 2.2 is a vastly better experience than VLC 3 is for 360 degree videos. Is this a current limitation of VLC 3 and 360 video or is there something else I should be trying here? Thanks.
