I've just downloaded the latest version (wayyyy late, I know, don't use VLC often) and was staggered to see the version name, WeatherWax.
Now unless I'm missing something, that's a direct reference to Terry Pratchett and Discworld.

VLC release names were originally (James Bond) Goldeneye characters. But nowadays Discworld characters are used instead.

Yes I noticed this also the last time I downloaded VLC onto my machine, totes amazing dudeeeee
