Playing a video/stream from a network site

Postby EllenJBJ » 09 Jan 2017 23:29

Hello there. I am fed up with the quality of streams from a few networks. Is there a way to play the stream in VLC? Specifically, I'd like to watch Gotham in VLC. http://www.fox.com/gotham/full-episodes I tried opening a specific episode ( http://www.fox.com/watch/819095619599/7684182528 ) to play using Open Network Stream, but it would not play. Any thoughts or hacks? Thanks!

Your URLs are URLs for a website not for a video.

Thanks. I do understand that is a URL for the site hosting the video, but that does work for youtube. Is there something I should be looking for in the code to grab and put in the network stream to play the video?

This is not possible in most cases. However, you can try the context menu (right mouse click in the video).

If you have experience with HTML, you can try to find the URL in the source code of the page (right mouse click to the page outside the video).
