SMB Domain Login problems

I am using the latest VLC from the Store on both a Windows 10 Mobile device and the desktop.

I am trying to use the new SMB navigation feature. It works for me on shares that don't require a login, but when I need to access a shared machine with a login, it wont just take the Username and Password.

The instructions say to use DOMAIN;username, but I guess I don't get that to work either. Or maybe I just don't understand what it is looking for in the DOMAIN spot.
Can you show me an example or two? Maybe it is something trivial.
