mpgatofixed32 audio converter error: libmad error: Huffman data overrun

Hello folks,

I'm seeing the following error on 2.2.4 but NOT seeing this with 2.2.2 when playing mp3 files:
'mpgatofixed32 audio converter error: libmad error: Huffman data overrun'

I see this on both El Capitan and on Sierra.

Any thoughts about this? Not sure what changes were between vlc 2.2.2 and .4 release that would cause this. I've tested this on two separate Macs and see the same behavior. If I downgrade vlc to 2.2.2, no issues, no error messages.

Music also stutters slightly.
