You can choose the location of your screenshots.
Settings - Preferences - Video - just scroll a bit down.

You have to define the Snapshot location and extension you want to use, like i have written in the posting before.
The default shortcut to take a snapshot is ALT+CTRL+s.
To change the shortcut go to: Settings - Preferences - Interface - Hotkeys Settings.

Well, to watch your snapshots just go to the location you have saved the snapshots.

Do you use the newest version of VLC ?

Do you get a small thumbnail in the upper left corner if you take a snapshot ?
If not, maybe you are pressing the wrong keys.

What happens if you play your movie and select "Video" - "Snapshot" ?

If you get those thumbnails but can't find the snapshots, search for "vlcsnap".

You have to restart the player after you've changed the settings. (i.e. the snapshot save location.)

Return to “General VLC media player Troubleshooting”
