What does vlc -L command do? Does it help better streaming iptv live channels in vlc?

I am trying to record m3u8 file play in VLC. I was told vlc -L command helps reloading live tv streams. True?

VLC --help

 Playlist

  -L, --loop, --no-loop          VLC will keep playing the playlist
                                 indefinitely.
         (default disabled)

So will vlc -L command help with live tv channel streaming?
Will it keep reloading same channel repeatedly?
