RTSP stream image turns grey

Postby Robbe » 25 Jun 2016 18:53

Hello everyone,

I want to stream an RTSP stream from an IP camera in VLC.
The url is: rtsp://username:password@172.20.61.201/rtpvideo1.sdp
Camera model: Etrovision EV8581 A-C

Immediately or after a few seconds the image turns grey like this:
Image

Or the video just stops (playtime stays the same and image stays the same).

I've increased the buffer to 10000ms instead of the standard 1000ms already. This didn't help.
Did anyone encounter this problem before or knows a solution for this?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I've read that it might have to do with VLC not sending some kind of "keep alive signal"?
Could that have to do something with it?

I have a similar issue. I have a Page with multiple streams on a webpage in a thumbnail sort of view... there is a button to click to go to a dedicated page to a different (better resolution stream) view of just that camera. I have the greying out issue as well, and found if I refresh the page it goes away, but it happens also on the page where they all load, sometimes a few do not come back from the grey screen. I am looking into how to refresh single elements but unsuccessful.

I have had mine where it is grey like this but you can see movement in the shadows so to speak... in outlines... but the view does not clear up until I refresh or reload the stream.... What happens in the player if you stop and restart the stream?

Yes, this is a known bug and there are currently no solutions.

I added a stop and play button to my web page (for each stream) and it is a working temp fix for this issue. When the page loads, it has several streams come up a few stay gray. If the stream is stopped and then restarted, it comes up. Not the sexiest or sleekest, but functioning for my users.
