Why my Vlc 3.0.0 does not have "Render output" ??

Postby Killaruna » 19 Sep 2016 17:33

Hi guys, is incredible how after hours i cant find anything usefull!! The question is simple, if i have "vlc-3.0.0-20160919-0440-git-win64" latest nightly build DLed from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win64/?C=M;O=D why i dont have the famous RENDER OUTPUT option for chromecast? I tried differents kind of files, and nothing. I went to Video,Render,Scan then i clicked on accept permission for firewall, then i went to the same place again and i clicked on (myname)chromecast for send the video, but nothing happends! :(

Why i dont have that option? ¬¬'

Stay cool.Often on this ''official'' VLC forum, many questions remain unanswered.Me, for example, I asked much more questions than I received answers.
It's even worse on the French forum.

Yes i imagine mate, it happend usually in forums, like phone assitance or fixing problems with pc... is very easy to ask, but to spend your time answering people... you have to have good knowledge first, and second be generous for spend your time fixing problems of the people....

Ok.Let's recap your problem.
When you go to video/renderer/scan..,Your chromecast device is detected by VLC.But the contents of your video is not displayed on your TV.

Is that right? If so, I do have the same problem. As you know VLC 3.0 is in progress right now. It's known to be buggy.
In my case I'm following all the new nightly releases and I just downloaded the latest dated Sept ,28 .It still does not work.
Just do the same ,on a regular basis to see what happens.

Yes, there are a few issues yet to be fixed for that.

Okay mate good answer, but still weird that a "bug" cause it to many people and other no... if i would be the developer company, at the firsts reports i would find the solution asap becouse i think is one of the stronger point of vlc 3.0

Today, I downloaded the latest build of Sept 30th.
The video on VLC is still not displayed.
Please note that a few days ago, I succeeded with another build to display some still images on my TV through Chromecast.
Nothing happened since then.

Today I downloaded the latest build.
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... -win64.zip
With this build, I finally succeeded in displaying a VLC video to my TV screen.
The steps I followed: Video/renderer/scan/chromecast.But,I had to reopen renderer as scan remained thicked off. Then, I reclicked Chromecast to activate it.
However, please note the problems that I have noticed.

1-The video itself does not play on the VLC interface.
2-The sound is very bad on most of the videos I played.
3-Most videos freezed within one minute.
4-Some time, I had to reset VlC to finally play a video.

Congratulations to the VLC team. You're on the right track.

http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win64/?C=M;O=D
Le problème le plus inquiétant pour moi est que je n'ai pu,jusqu'à maintenant, faire jouer une vidéo de plus de 1 go. Elle gèle toujours en cours de lecture.

So far, I've been unable to play a full video o more than 1,00gb.
It freezes after a short while.

Hello,

I've been recently using nightly version vlc-3.0.0-20161125-0437-git-win64, on Windows 10 64bit with Chromecast2 on a stable AC wireless local network.
It plays nicely, but still a bit buggy. It can crash anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours.
I'm streaming live streams via m3u list, & switching between channels is impossible without restarting the interface.
So, for the moment one stream at a time - just very happy it actually works.
Also there is a small issue with the subtitles - VLsub crashes - but that's probably because it tries to load the hash to begin with (Kodi-Exodus link).

From the log files (verbosity 2) I can gather that there seem to be "late buffering" issues (for mux input), which causes the stream to crash.
Having said that, version vlc-3.0.0-20161128-0435-git-win64 - installed today - so far no issues - no crash yet (over 4 hours).
I'm very certain to have a stable version soon enough. That is if Google doesn't screw things up with an update or something :(

Just wanted to say a big big THANK YOU.
It is by far the best way to stream to Chromecast - using very little computer resources.
Android emulators & Chrome screen mirroring cannot even compare
Regards!

PS: @Babac, try http://airflowapp.com/ for local file streaming, seems to work flawlessly in that department (including subs).

OK. I installed Air flow and it sounds promising as it's still in a beta state.

Most of the videos I could lunch were in MP4 and otherthan MP4 failed.
Thanks for the tip.
