greetings newbie here,
i'm hoping this is the correct forum to ask this question. first i'll explain what i'm try to do and then i'll get to the problem. i'm interested in creating a camera security system using ip camera's and vlc. the first place i would like to mess around in is the file motiondection.c. but before i begin i need to be able to compile vlc with none of my changes. so i learned how to compile using git. now i have 2 versions of vlc, one is the original version that came with ubuntu the other is my compiled version. in the original version when i open press open media ->open network then select network tab then paste in the rstp string , then stream begins and everything works just fine. on the second version of vlc (the one i compiled), when i paste in the rstp string i get the following error "your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL" when i look into messages i see the following "core error: cannot access
rtsp://192.168.1.10:554user=admin_password=tlJwpbo6_channel=1_stream=0.sdp?real_stream
my theory at this moment is that i'm missing some library but i'm not sure. can anyone help ?

please note, i added some spaces in the path of some of the above to get around that 5 url max rule.

this is a compare between my good working vlc and the one that won't stream. notice how the bad vlc can't find a access modules match. notice how the good vlc finds live555. funny, i have a folder call "live" in my home->vlc_build folder, right beside my ffmeg folder, wonder why it doesn't see it when its looking for a matching access module ??
