vlc problem video not playing the first time

Hello,
I am using vlc 2.2.4 and vlcj 2.0.0. When I first load the video, there is no view although the video slider is sliding. It slides to the end as if the video is playing. Then it stops. When I replay the video it plays normally. How could I make the video play the first time ? What could be going wrong ?

Is it because I cannot set video output correctly ? Where / how is it set ? Please help. Thank you.
