Screen shot height bug in VLC 2.2.4

Postby Zeek0 » 23 Jun 2016 16:19

The height of screen shots in VLC 2.2.4 is slightly higher than the actual height.
When taking a screen shot of a 1280x720p video the image size is 1280x738.
The image size of a 1920x1080p comes out as 1920x1090.
The problem effects both the Windows and Linux versions of VLC 2.2.4 so it's probably common to all versions of VLC.
Tested on Windows 7 (64bit) and Opensuse 13.2 (64bit).

The problem could also be in previous versions of VLC - I haven't checked.
I've been told that VLC 2.2.1 is ok.

I noticed that too. Will this bug ever be fixed?

With vlc-2.2.4 (default settings):
720p vid -> snapshot resolution: 1280x738
1080p vid -> snapshot resolution: 1920x1090

With vlc-2.0.1 (default settings) everything is fine:
720p vid -> snapshot resolution: 1280x720
1080p vid -> snapshot resolution: 1920x1080

I believe this has been reported - for about 5 months now. Please see: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/16789

Would it be possible to get this fixed? I'm currently running a version prior to 2.2.0 just so that I can snapshot the correct resolution.

Would love to see traction on this - thanks!

Hello,
in addition, the screenshot is a bit darker.

I've been having the same problems. My 1920 x 1080 turns into 1920 x 1090, though I think mine gets lighter.

I'm using v2.2.4 on Windows 7 64-bit.
