Where do I find these please? My iPod can't be updated beyond iOS 6.1.

Just try to download VLC from the App Store. You'll be offered a previous release automatically.

I have the same situation, and I tried just downloading it from the App Store. I got a message saying, "This application requires iOS 7.0 or later. You must upgrade to iOS 7.0 in order to download and use this application." The only option is to hit "OK." There was no offer of a previous version and nothing was downloaded. Is there another way?

I am facing problem in playing 5.1 sound in vlc player. I didnt get sound in vlc but i get sound in Power DVD. But personally I like vlc. so please guide me how to play 5.1 sound.
