Can't play my videos on windows XP

Postby ChristianGloom » 15 Jul 2016 08:33

I am not able to play or upload my videos from my laptop for the past 2 weeks. The videos are in MP4 format. I am using windows XP and the Internet Explorer latest version. Still, iIt’s not working. I’m using VLC player as default. While trying to play the video only black screen appears, but the audio is working. I tried playing high -quality videos from a video production company named, MJM Media. I tried changing the players, but none of them is working.
I’m using Acer aspire with 4 GB DDR3 , 500 GB HDD, Intel Pentium P6100 processor.
Please help me with your suggestions.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

50 MB max should be enough.

I tried changing the players, but none of them is working.
But if no other player is working then it's a problem with your computer and not a specific VLC trouble.

I tried playing with other players. But it's not working. Do I need to change my OS?

It's not about your OS, all popular players are working fine on XP.
But there is something wrong on your system. Try to reinstall your graphics card drivers and also reinstall DirectX9.

My windows XP plays mp4 files on VLC without any problems. But windows XP's windows media player does not play mp4 files. To play mp4 on windows media player, you need to install 3rd party codecs such as media player codec pack. If VLC doesn't play your files, your files may have issues.
