Is this possible?

I want to create a dvd disk which will play on both a hardware player and computers as well.

I considered creating a normal dvd content disk and have vlc located on the disk as well. I also created a program to automatically find where vlc is run from so it can execute vlc with the correct parameters to play the dvd disk (it needs the dvdsimple:// command you see).

However i am not really sure if vlc can be used without being installed, either in windows machines or macos ones. If it can, how should i do it?
just copy paste the entire installation folder, or is there another way?

Also. is there a way to detect the host operatin system so the disks autorun executes either the windows or the macos version of vlc?

On Windows it can, on macosX I'm not sure

For autostart, the autostart mechanisms are not the same, so you won't have any trouble doing different versions for Win and Mac
