Unable to open existing skins in the editor

Hi, I'm trying to use the r219 buld of the Skin editor on a Windows 7 64Bit PC.
I am unable to open existing skins in the editor.
Wheter I try the "open an existing skin" button on the welcome popup, click the open folder icon or navigate to it through file>open, nothing seems to work (I also tried older builds and made sure I have the correct JRE).
I'd expect to be prompted to a file selection window. Instead nothing happens, no error either. The editor remains responsive during all this.
I wasn't able to find any information about this behaviour online, so I figured I'd ask here.

I have the same problem... Also Win7 x64. Tried installing 32 bit VLC, but didn't help.
