VLC 2.0.0 on Android Tablet?

Postby Allnight » 24 Jun 2016 04:51

I have a Samsung Tab S2 9.7 running Samsung's Marshmallow (6.0.1) and VLC won't launch.

Should it? I've seen menyion that it's for phones, but since it's Android I expected that to mean tablets too.

I have the same tablet version and the same issue. Strange enough the beta VLC version works just fine.

Thanks for the info. Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

Would be nice if the devs would reply.

I have excatly same tablet model and for me it starts normally. When I updated to 2.0.0 though I noticed that for some reason update broke starting shortcut on mainscreen and I had to copy it from apps folder before it worked

How do I get the logs? Wouldn't they have to come from the launcher?

Hi there. I have the same Tablet and the same problem and wanted to test again with the new version and the beta. Unfortunately, I can't becaue the play store says that my device is not compatible.
That wasn't the case in the former versions. Have you found the reason for the problem or just set this specific device as incompatible? Is there any way, I can test? I could also try to provide log files.

It seems it's a combinaison between Android build tools being updated and the store acting up.

Well, thank you!

2.0.5 installed and starts just fine.

It did fail to play, though. We'll, it started and then exited out of playback around 4 seconds in. I haven't looked into it too much yet. I kinda wonder if the problem is that I didn't grant it access to local storage.

So, this new problem will get a new thread if I start to think it's a problem with VLC.

Thanks, again!!!

Mike
