Snapshot naming

I'm trying to take snapshot from some videos, but when I take them VLC names vlcsnap-error[number] (like, vlcsnap-error114.jpg) instead of using the timestamp; in settings the prefix is vlcsnap- and I can't understand why the error.

I'm running VLC 2.2.1 on Windows 8.1.

I also had this error on Windows 10 64 bit with VLC 2.2.2 64 bit (as well as 2.2.1 and 2.1.5 64 bit) - replacing it with the 32 bit version solved it.

Reverting to 32 bit worked for a while, but now I don't know why it went back to the wrong naming...

Are you sure you did not change version in-between?

I'll check again, but I didn't upgrade it in the meanwhile, so I'm not sure how it could be back to 64 bit...

I mean the version number, not the bit width.

I checked, it was upgraded from 2.2.3 to 2.2.4.

Just to confirm that I am seeing the same issue.

Clean install of Windows 10 with a new install of VLC 2.2.4 64bit.

I've been getting this naming error with v2.2.4 (64 bit) on Win10 64 bit.

But there's an additional error... the screenshots are LARGER than the original frame. So instead of being 720x1280 they are 738x1280 with those 18 extra pixels being a solid lime green bar.

I think I solved that green line by deselecting "Use hardware YUV->RGB conversion" under Preferences > Video.

Thanks for responding. It didn't work... or I should say I don't seem to have problems with mp4 files I've compressed. But I have problems with the original .mov video files shot on my Canon SX160is... which I believe are mjpeg. Maybe that's a clue to why it's happening.

If I'm watching 480p mjpeg videos... it adds 2 pixels rows of green.... but it consistently adds 18 pixel rows for 720p. I have nothing to shoot 1080p mjpegs on.

Here are the video specs from Media Info for the 720p files that create those green line. It's saying that these files are AVC but I don't believe there's any interframe compression. These video stream alone is a whopping 19Mbs

Looking back at my folder of captured frames... I had no problems with these errors with Win8.1. They started with Win10.

Partial success. I uninstalled 2.2.4 64 bit yesterday and installed the 32 bit. It did fix the file naming problem. But it's still adding the green bar to the bottom of some screen shots. Since that's a separate problem... perhaps I should start a new thread on the topic.

Problem is I don't know with what version that problem started.

Still having this problem in the last 64bits version. I unistall it and then I install the 32bits version and now the problem is solved. But my PC is 64 bits, It would be nice to solve this problem in VLC 64bits version.
