[Snapshot feature broken?

Postby MichaelSkofield » 30 Sep 2005 04:19

Using the latest build, 0.8.4-test-1, I can't get the snapshot to work.
I got 0 kb files.
Having used nightly builds of .8.4 from 9/26 and 9/23 I get the same errors.
Last nightly that I have, that works with the snapshot feature, is 0.8.3 from 7/1

Code: Select all

main debug: looking for encoder module: 10 candidates ffmpeg debug: libavcodec already initialized ffmpeg error: cannot find encoder PNG Image main error: no suitable encoder module for fourcc `png '. VLC probably does not support this image format. main error: could not create snapshot C:\Documents and Settings\**********\My Documents\My Pictures/vlcsnap-71961.png

0.8.4-test1 was mistakenly compiled without PNG support (taking screenshots as JPEG files should work though). Please install 0.8.4-test1a instead.

Looks like the final 0.8.4 doesn't have PNG support either. I'm getting the same error running 0.8.4 on OS X 10.4.3:

ffmpeg: cannot find encoder PNG Image
main: no suitable encoder module for fourcc `png '.
VLC probably does not support this image format.

Worked fine on 0.8.4test2

Missing PNG in 0.8.4 final is a Mac-only problem, due to the version of ffmpeg included - see this thread for more info.
