Playback performance post v2.6.6

Postby pascvlc » 23 Apr 2016 21:24

Something changed sometime after v2.6.6 (iOS VLC). Playback used to be flawless on my original iPad air then after an upgrade (late December/early January - not sure) I started getting issues with not-so-smooth motion in movie scenes where there is panning and zooming. It looks like there are frames being skipped, not dramatic but occasionally noticeable and distracting to me. I since upgraded to the 9.7 inch iPad pro and still had the same problem (v2.7.5). I reverted to v2.6.6 (I had to figure out how to do this) and it's back to perfect. It is also flawless in VLC on my Mac. I had to disable auto app updates on my device.

The video files I play have been copied to the device using iTunes. A typical file with which I observe this has these characteristics: mpeg4 / H264, 1080p, 23.976 fps (as MKV).

Ideas?

Thank you.

Could you try again with the 2.7.7 release? It should improve quite a few things :)
