Slideshow with updating Pics

Hallo there.
Ive got an folder where all 2 Minutes a new Picture comes in.
I want the VLC to check if there is a new picture an show it till there is a newer one.
Am I right here in with Lua? Im not certain?
I thought about calling VLC with an Skript a Parameter, but Lua is more for extending VLC, rigth?
Ive got a Windows 7 64 system here with VLC 2.2.2 and can make some batching in Backgroud as well.
Or does somebody got another Idea how to realize this?
