Postby gruianovac » 10 Mar 2015 09:06

This feature is not working
using windows x64
i saw the issue present for MAC, and they resolved it by turning on keep recent files.
i have both activated, but its not working. can some1 confirm?
this was one of the best reasons keeping me fomr using VLC as default player.. that and the unaccessible playlist

It seems it only works on Windows, if file was started from within VLC. Can you check?

We're going to fix that for 2.2.1
the unaccessible playlist
Can you expand on that?

as I said, I am using Windows 7 x64. and its not working

about playlist, i wrote a different thread about improvements (like auto add media files from folder by default, or at least have an option to scan and add files from containing folder)
having an improved context menu for crop, file properties.
also also having an easy shortcut for it (like middle mouse button)
+ bug, if player is always on top, the playlist (detached) doesn't get always on top to overlap it, it will stay underneath.

thanks for question

I installed 2.2.1 yesterday but still the resume feature isn't working properly, if I open a video and quit vlc seconds into the video and reopen it won't resume to the last position, it only works if minutes pass by into the video, I hope you fix this.

this is still not working properly, as I said, let's say I open a video for a few seconds and close it, then I open it, it won't resume to its position, it will only work if minutes pass by, why is that?

That's by design. It is intended to work that way for obvious reasons.

Strange... what about the fact that the same happens when you are a few minutes before the END of the video? For example, if I'm playing a video with a duration of approximate 44 minutes, stop it at position 43:00 or so and then restart the playback, the bar which asks you whether you would like to resume from the last position doesn't show up, too!!!!

For what reasons?

..and I've found another bug:

When playing, stopping and replaying MPG (example: http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/tv+movies/warri ... 00-VBR.mpg )or MPEG-2 files which I have recorded with a DVB-T capture card as a video stream, the resume position is not very accurate: sometimes it resumes from a position that differs many seconds (sometimes even minutes!) BEFORE or AFTER from the position the video has actually been stopped at. Please fix this annoying bug!

Okay, I've noticed that you changed the behaviour in v2.2.2 regarding "Auto resume": in previous versions, it was also working when running VLC media player from a command line, e g.:
"D:\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe testfile.avi", but in v2.2.2 the dialog box asking whether you would like to resume a video that has been stopped before does not appear anymore! Only by opening it inside VLC media player via the "Open file" menu it will be added to the "last opened files" and thus show the asking dialog box the next time when you play this video again.

I can't see any obvious reason why you changed that behaviour, so please, please make it work like in v2.2.1 again, including the "command line way"! Thank you in advance.

Same problem, resume only work if opening from within the player. If you double click on a video file, the player does not resume. Fix? I have version 2.2.2 windows. Thank you.

It is essential for me that "Resume from last position" does also work when the media player is started from the command line, because that is the way I'm particularly using it with the remote control in my media center environment! With v2.2.1 that was no problem, but afterwards you changed something, and I can't understand the reason :-(

So again: Please make it work like in v2.2.1! And by doing so, it would be even greater if you could add a customizable duration for the pop-up dialog box, as sometimes my remote control doesn't behave reliably and sends the simulated mouse click to the button of the small window at the top asking if you would like to resume from the last position when it has already disappeared...
