4 years - Literally every other update - No Video

Postby Landis » 12 Mar 2016 04:06

hello,
VLC has been my favorite player for years. 10 or so year now. But...
over the last 4 or so years, Literally Every Other Update, I have NO Video.
Audio, No Video.

I Always run openSuSE, and usually KDE (sometimes Enlightenment) and they're Always up to date via zypper or Yast2

One time, vlc (opensuse ropo) wont play video.
So, I install vlc-beta from packman repo
Then, I update and -beta stops playing video,
So, I have to install opensuse non-beta and video Might work for a day.
I've even tried using vlc official repo: http://download.videolan.org/pub/vlc/SuSE/13.2/

SMPlayer, kaffine, mpv almost Always work
ffmpeg, gstreamer and 0_1, libav, etc installed and up to date. Obviously, as sometimes, every other time, VLC works.

Does Anyone have a Specific reason why?
Landis.
it is better to be thought a nobody and have a servant,
than to pretend to be someone and have no food.

Usually it's either display driver bugs, or packaging errors.
