I have some real problems with VLC and now can hardly use it. Somehow I have acquired two versions on my Windows 10 computer, one called VLC for Windows Store, and one called VLC Media Player. The first I like but it now will not run, the second I am not keen on, it does not seem possible to get out of full screen mode or to reduce its size, which is no good for me.
There are different icons / links for them, producing different results although I can only find one instance of VLC in Windows Explorer (??).
Unfortunately VLC for Windows Store crashed when launched (I am asked to send bug reports). It used to crash intermitantly so I know what it should be like. I thought the answer might be to download / install afresh from the VLC website but unexpectedly I still have the two versions --- and the Windows Store version, which I intended to keep, now crashes constantly.
Clicking a VLC file opens VLC Media Player OK but not VLC Windows Store. Open With does launch VLC Windows Store, but as soon as a video starts to play it crashes.
There are some other complications but the only one I will deal with now is the fact that I cannot download now from the Windows Store as I am one of a number of people suffering the November update bug which trashed the Store and many other Microsoft apps.
Cam someone help me sort out this mess?
