Converted a Video to Audio (Post Script File)

Postby codeberg » 11 Feb 2016 07:30

I converted a video to audio. The audio is in form of a post script file is there any way I can get back the original video?

Some audio formats have no video in them to recover afaik.

You could try to recover the original video file after you deleted it with a data recovery program, which may work if the media your using hasn't been written to, too much. You'll want to copy the recovered video file to different media than the one the original file was on. Recuva has a free and paid version.

3 free programs

TestDisk 7.0, this program contains a seperate photo recovery program. It doesn’t have a gui, but is console based menu driven. (multiplatform)

Disk Drill

DDrescue

Just to confirm what @bubba12 indicated, that your audio file will unlikely have any video attached to it. For this reason you will need to find the original file. Hopefully you won't need to attempt undeleting it.
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.
