SMB/tvOS first media file is being played instead of listing

Postby gramlin » 19 Jan 2016 08:21

I have a smb-mount with files in subdirectories, browsing the directory structure vlc start to play the first file in one of the subdirectories instead of showing a directory list.
It works fine for a while, but after thumbnails have been created I get the behaviour.

I'm having the same issue. Running a Netgear ReadyNAS (RND4000-200NAS, four 3TB bays) over WiFi via Netgear N900 Dual Band Gigabit router (R4500). At initial set up; VLC read the files, metadata loaded, video's seemed to playback just fine. Then (same day), I ran into the following issues.

*Subdirectories wouldn't load in instances where multiple subdirectories were involved (Example: "TV" media files).
*When subdirectories did load, the 1st episode of the series would play. Regardless of which episode you'd select.

Also experience a separate issue altogether, not related to this thread...

*When playing back "Movie" media files, I'd select movie A then movie B would play instead. This would occur across multiple selections that i attempted. Some would work properly. Most would not.

Side note: Any word on when ac3 will be properly liscensed and ready for ATV4? I'd be more than happy to pay a reasonable fee to get this feature enabled. Many of my media files are AC3 and wouldn't playback any audio.
