something that happens once in a while

some times when i open a new file i get the regular player & another second window that looks like a player with an all black screen in the middle of the video. to close the black screen the video stops & i need to hit play again, it all works fine from there without the second window that.

any help on how to fix this?

Try to reset preferences inside the prefs panel.
