Capture device recognised but not streaming

Hi all,
I can stream a video file over my network with no issues whatsoever, however when I try to stream from a ADVC55 capture device, it won't play on the receiving machine. It's showing fine locally on the transmitting machine (display the stream locally). Switch back to streaming a file and all's fine again.

Should I be transcoding due to the ADVC55 being a DV format? Any other suggestions please?

Update:
I've also tried using a Sony PD170 connected via firewire. Same result:
I can see video locally but not on the receiving machine.
