VLC-iOS-2.6.6 compile error - GTL

Using xcode7.1 iphoneos9.1
on OS X El Capitan 10.11.1
src used downloaded from VLC website
VLC for iOS 2.6.6
compile command: ./compileVLCforiOS.sh -v
[...]
The following build commands failed:

any idea? I have searched for similar post on the forum, but doesn't apply to this particular error.
I had used -v flag, but there is no further error on the console.

This is an issue within the GTL dependency, not VLC. They apparently changed something in their svn.
