VLC stops when playing via Digital AV Adapter

Hello,
VLC keeps the display on while playing video files on TV. If I press the power button, the playback stops.
In native apps, like Videos or Safari, the video keeps playing even if the iPhone is locked.
Is there any solution?

There is no solution for that right now, sorry. VLC's behavior matches that of other third party apps such as Netflix or Amazon Video. However, that's not ideal right now, but there is no way we know of to solve this properly.

Thank you for the answer. I've noticed that the YouTube app displays a different message "Connected to AirPlay" and continues playback on TV even when screen is locked. Could this be a solution?

I have no idea how the YouTube app works and I doubt that they will reveal that info to us.
