VLC iOS double-opens a vlc:// link

I'm having a problem someone could perhaps assist.

Scenario:
IceCast2 server with stream
Authentication (basic) provided by Icecast2 to the Mount Point

I have a link in an html like so:

<a href="vlc://http://moo.my.icecast.server:8000/stream">Click Here to Listen</a>

Now if a user clicks the link, Safari asks to open VLC, and everything works fine.

The problem is, the user is taken to an authentication screen and once logged-in the stream plays BUT THEN - VLC shows another window saying Download OR Play this stream on top which wont go away. Clicking either option breaks the current stream thats already playing.

Its like VLC is opening the first time, starting to play then thinks its got a link to open again after authenticating and prompts the user to play or download when it is already playing it.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. How can I reproduce that? Can you give me a demo account or something?
