Use IOS simulator to play video

Postby kensiu » 21 Aug 2015 10:39

I have sucessfully built and simulated the VLC on Xcode.
Can I use IOS simulator to play video with VLC?
Where should I put the video source?

Thanks a lot!

Just drag the video on VLC while it is running in the simulator.

It works. I can add the video to the playlist.
But while I played the video, it stopped at the first frame. More, I cannot insert the .iso file to the simulator.
Please advice. Thank you!

VLC for iOS does not support .ISO files and most likely never will.

Regarding the "stopped on first frame" issue, this is impossible to answer without knowing the VLC version you compiled.

HI, Felix.
I found that the video is actually playing but not smoothly.
I also found the message as below:

2015-08-28 22:34:34.398 VLC for iOS[1154:6329] this is a cat four device
shader program 1: WARNING: Output of vertex shader 'TexCoord1' not read by fragment shader

[00000001138198b8] avcodec decoder error: more than 5 seconds of late video -> dropping frame (computer too slow ?)

I was using macbook pro to do the simulation, is that my computer is not fast enough?
