Capture device not working

Postby williamguty8 » 01 Aug 2015 15:22

I recently downloaded VLC version 2.2.1 and tried to use the capture device. I opened VLC->Opened capture device->changed settings to desktop on the top/convert on the bottom->Then when i selected my file destination and clicked start VLC closed. It made a file that when opened crashed VLC. Did I do something wrong?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried it on multiple systems always with the same result. Has there been any movement on this issue? Is there an older version that works?

VLC version 1.1.11 does work to stream. However, I can't view the stream from a client machine. I'm not clear on what the URL would look like. On the "RTSP" tab of the Destinations dialog, the Port is set to 5544 and in the Path I have added "/test". So, if the IP address of my machine is 192.168.1.100, would the URL look like "rtsp://192.168.1.100:5544/test"?

You need to use UDP if you're streaming to one other machine.

Then the destination needs to be simply the I.P. of the receiving machine. Port will be 1234 by dafault.

On the receiving machine, Open Network Stream, and the URL will be udp://@1234

Hope this helps you.
